In 2007 the Washington County School District received a grant from the U.S. Department of Education which expanded the existing WCSD Family Gatherings and Family Literacy programs by funding an after school mentor program. The Washington County School District Mentoring Program builds the community’s capacity to support and sustain an improved and structured system of mentoring while improving the academic achievement/advancement and personal/social responsibility of “greatest need” youth by involving Native American, ESL, and At-Risk students in a positive, long-term mentoring relationship |
